American Foundation for Suicide Prevention
AFSP is dedicated to saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide.
Founded in 1987, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is a voluntary health organization that gives those affected by suicide a nationwide community, empowering them through research, education, and advocacy. AFSP aims to break the stigma currently associated with mental health, and focuses on their core strategies of funding research, educating the public on mental health and suicide prevention, advocating for public policies, and supporting survivors of suicide and those affected by suicide. The foundation provides life saving mental health resources and focuses on supporting survivors of suicide and families affected by suicide, while also raising awareness and advocacy for suicide prevention.
Suicide is still one of the leading causes of death in the United States, with almost everyone having been affected by suicide or mental illness at some point in their life. Matan is committed to helping support the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention as they continue their life saving work.
